City of Hartsville Kicks Off Holiday Season

Hartsville, SC– On Thursday, November 15th, downtown Hartsville will be bustling with holiday spirit as visitors and residents enjoy a variety of Hartsville for the Holidays happenings from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

At 6 p.m., the Centennial Tree Lighting ceremony in Centennial Park will kick off the night’s festivities as Mayor Mel Pennington and Santa Claus light the Centennial Park Tree. Before the tree lighting, guests may enjoy holiday music performed by the Hartsville High School Chorus at 5:30 p.m. After the tree lighting, guests may enjoy snow tubing on the snow slides located in the parking lot between Centennial Park and First Citizens Bank. Sip on ice cold milk and nibble on cookies at City Hall while visiting jolly St. Nick at City Hall from 6:30 to 9 p.m. for Pictures with Santa.

Visit your favorite Main Street Hartsville businesses as many will be open late for guests to get a head start on their holiday gift lists. Camden Carriage Company will be providing free carriage rides for those interested in taking a break from the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. Carriage rides will pick up on East College Avenue and stroll riders through downtown.

November 15th will mark the first day of Santa’s Mailbox located in Centennial Park. This is the perfect opportunity for little ones to put their must have items for the holidays on a wish list and mail it off to Santa. Santa will reply to addressed letters until December 20th. The mailbox will return to the North Pole on December 27th.
Parking for these events can be found at all public parking lots, except the Centennial Park parking lot beside First Citizens Bank. This lot will be blocked off for the snow tubing during the Downtown Holiday Open House and Centennial Tree Lighting.

These events were made possible by the City of Hartsville, Neptune Island, and Main Street Hartsville.
