Kiwanis Club of Hartsville launches K-Night, an evening opportunity

Kiwanis Club of Hartsville is offering a new alternative to traditional civic club meeting times.  Kiwanis is launching K-Night, a full-fledged branch of the local club that will meet on the first and third Tuesday evenings of each month at 6:00 p.m.

The inaugural meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17, at the Mantissa rooftop, 130 East Carolina Avenue.

“Several folks have told us that they are interested in Kiwanis and its impact on the lives of children but just can’t get away from work at lunch time,” incoming Kiwanis President Patrick Rogers said.

Kiwanis is an international service organization whose primary focus is to better the lives of children.  It’s the group responsible for Terrific Kids programs in our elementary schools.  Kiwanis has supported a variety of projects and organizations that impact kids for over 50 years with funds raised by its annual Chicken BBQ the second Tuesday of each May.

“We have been working toward K-Night much of this Kiwanis year, and our team is ready to invite prospective members to try us out,” Kiwanis President Dick Boiteau said.

Members of the new K-night will have an opportunity to participate in the Chicken BBQ and their own special service efforts.  K-night Kiwanians will join with the lunch club members for evening socials and other special events.
