DESCRIPTION:Handbuilding is the earliest forming method of pottery. Wares can be constructed by hand from coils of clay\, combining flat slabs of clay\, or pinching solid balls of clay. This 4-week series is designed for adults that have no prior experience. Students will learn basic handbuilding techniques and surface treatments to work created.\n\nDates & Times:\n\nTuesdays from 6:00-8:00pm\n\n\n	\n	Session 1: May 7\, 14\, 21\, and 28\n	\n	\n	Session 2: June 4\, 11\, 18\, and 25\n	\n	\n	Session 3: July 9\, 16\, 23\, and 30\n	\n\n\nInvestment:\n\n$200 (for each session) includes one 5lb bag of clay\n\nAbout the Teacher:\n\nFrankie J. Mixon is an SC Arts Commission visual arts fellow\; Artist (specializing in pottery\, clay sculptures\, and mixed media)\; Classroom art teacher with a BA in art\, two MA degrees in Elementary Education\, and Reading with an emphasis in Elementary Education. Teaching philosophy: The study of art is an excellent way to promote creativity\, self-esteem\, and self-expression. EVERY CHILD IS SPECIAL.
