64 Coker Student-Athletes Receive the 2019-20 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award
August 28, 2020CLEVELAND, Ohio - 64 Coker University student-athletes were named recipients of the 2019-20 D2 Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award, announced by the organization today (Thursday, Aug. 27).
In total, there were 15, 215 student-athletes from 200 institutions recognized for the 2019-20 Academic Achievement Awards. These numbers shattered the records for highest number of participating institutions and the largest number of student-athletes being nominated since the award program's inception.
Coker's 64 student-athletes were among the 837 total from the South Atlantic Conference.
"Coker student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom even with the challenges of Covid-19," said Vice President of Athletics and Athletic Facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin. "Our number of student-athletes who receive this award increases each year, and that is a result the efforts of the Coker community supporting the academic interests of our student-athletes."
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, they must:- have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
- have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
