The Mayor’s Coalition to Host “Blessings and Burgers”
November 05, 2020
Florence, S.C.- The Mayor’s Coalition’s No One Unsheltered Committee will host “Blessings and Burgers,” an outdoor event to feed the local homeless community, on November 17 at 10:30 am at the Salvation Army on 1611 S Irby Street in Florence.
This event is meant to offer support and hope for those without a home. Attendees will be given burgers and a Blessing Bag containing information on local resources.
“During these unprecedented times and the current pandemic, it is important to remember that many are still homeless in our community, who lack every day necessities now more than ever,” says Mitch Gowan, Chairman of No One Unsheltered. “As each of our agencies deal with this pandemic and continue to serve our community, we will come together- outside the walls of our buildings- to help meet the need where we see it.”
The goal of the Homelessness and No One Unsheltered committee is to ensure that local shelters and service providers collaborate effectively to provide safe, quick and adequate housing for those seeking shelter. The committee is a subdivision of the Mayor’s Coalition and includes members from the Courtney McGinnis Graham Shelter; House of Hope, Junebugs Care, Naomi Project, Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault, Pee Dee Community Action Partnership, Regeneration Center, Resurrection Restoration Center for the Homeless, Tenacious Grace, & The Salvation Army.
