HARTSVILLE, S.C. – September 21, 2020 – The Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery welcomes the work of artist Todd McDonald.

Todd McDonald graduated with his B.F.A. in Painting from The University of Texas in Austin in 1998 and an M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from Arizona State University in Tempe in 2001. Currently, he is an Associate Professor and Painting Area Head at Clemson University, in Clemson S.C. In his images, Todd highlights relationships where unfamiliar mechanisms of mediation intermingle with stable characteristics that are embedded in the biology and cultural precedents of human perception. This mode forces a confrontation of actual sensory experience with one’s media heritage. While all the images in this exhibition are somewhat schismatic, a range of permutations tease out many different ways that the synthetic, amplified and distorted qualities of mediation brush up against the subtle nuances of non-mediated experience. His exhibition, titled Entangled, opens Monday, September 21, in the Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery. Gallery hours are MWF, 10am - 4pm, and TTH, 10am - 8pm. This exhibition runs through October 16th, 2020.
