Name: INDIGO SHIBORI WITH AMANDA KUYKENDALL
    Date: March 14, 2024
    Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM EDT
    Event Description:

Shibori is the Japanese term for tied and bound resist dyeing techniques. While modern Shibori is done with lots of colors and different fabrics, traditional Japanese Shibori on cotton was mainly done with iIndigo. The contrast of the blue and white can give bold contrast or subtle shades depending on the technique used. In this class we will use some of the basic techniques and show you how easy it is to get started with Shibori. A dye bat from my own Indigo plant will be used to create a yard of uniquely patterned fabric.

    DATE AND TIME:

Thursdays, March 14th and March 21st from 6:30-8:00pm

    INVESTMENT:

    $60 includes all material

    ABOUT THE TEACHER:

Creating has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember, and that would be at age four. I remember shaping mud-pies in the dirt, building dimensional houses out of bread bag ties, and drawing with Crayola crayons. My first experience with Prang watercolors lit a passion for color in me that has never waned! I have a great love of texture, bright, happy or stormy moody hues.

I studied at Ball State University & Academy of Art University. I taught Art for 5 years; one of my greatest joys is the "Aha!" moment of a student while I am teaching.
