Position Overview
The primary focus of this role is programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and Keyence Vision Systems to inspect precision-machined parts, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards. The ideal candidate will also perform a variety of hands-on inspection tasks, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and work with manufacturing teams to maintain product integrity in a fast-paced production environment.
Schedule
- 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Key Responsibilties
- Program CMM using MCOSMOS and MiCAT Planner software to create inspection routines for precision-machined components, including setup, alignment, and execution of measurements.
- Program Keyence IM Vision Systems to create inspection routines for precision-machined components, including setup, alignment, and execution of measurements.
- Conduct dimensional inspections on parts using CMM and other metrology equipment to verify compliance with blueprints, specifications, and tolerances.
- Perform manual inspections with tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, surface plates, and optical comparators.
- Analyze inspection data, identify non-conformances, and generate detailed reports on findings, including root cause analysis for defects.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Support first-article inspections, in-process audits, and final product verifications in the QA Lab.
- Collaborate with setup and production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in developing and updating quality control procedures, including participation in Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality management systems in all lab operations.
- Serve as contact for any communication with the CMM & Keyence manufacturer’s support team to resolve equipment and programming issues.
- Provide technical assistance with inspections or data programming to employees and customers.
Qualifications
- Education:Associate's degree in Machine Tool Technology, Metrology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- Proficiency in programming and operating CMM systems, with hands-on experience using MCOSMOS and MiCAT Planner software.
- At least 2 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing or precision machining environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Acrobat for reporting and data analysis.
- Certifications:
- Preferred: Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
- Preferred: Certified Quality Manager (CQM).
