News Release: 10/26/2021 - Workforce Readiness
October 26, 2021Workplace Exploration & a Taste of Spanakopita
Seventh-grader Hazel Rose is taking full advantage of our new Youth Leadership 201 Course – Workforce Readiness. Having already completed Youth Leadership 101 – The Power of Play, Hazel and her peers are learning to develop resumes, elevator pitches, and taking part in mock interviews to prepare for the future.
Youth Leadership 201 includes Workplace Exploration field trips, so students can get an inside look at local businesses and industries and meet with professionals in different fields to see where their interests and opportunities may collide.
A trip to Griggs Bakery was the perfect fit for Hazel, who aspires to be a baker, bakery owner, and maybe a restauranteur. Her emerging Workforce Readiness skills and experience in the kitchen opened the door for her to join 40+ other chefs and bakers at the recent Hartsville Chamber’s Taste of Hartsville event. Hazel served Spanakopita, a recipe she made with help from other students in her Youth Leadership 201 class. We couldn’t be more proud!
