Update on Hartsville High's Key Club Achievements

Key Club International is the oldest and largest service leadership organization for teens, and teaches leadership through service to others.

The HHS Key Club recently participated in SOCKtober, a national initiative during the month of October to collect and provide socks to those in need. The project is centered around the statistic that socks are the #1 most requested item in homeless shelters, schools, and community agencies.

Last year, HHS collected 80 pairs of socks for SOCKtober. This year, thanks to the Key Club, we have collected over 860 pairs of socks, over ten times more than last year!! The club did a fantastic job of publicizing the project, encouraging donations, visiting classrooms to get support and collect donations, and counting and boxing up all of the socks. Their efforts truly made the difference in this project being the huge success that it was!

Socks will be shared with the HHS guidance office, two Hartsville elementary schools, Hartsville Middle School, Carolina Kids, The Trent Hill Center, and Hartsville Interfaith Ministries. We know that these schools and community organizations will use these socks to meet the needs of those in our community and schools. We hope there will be no cold Fox Paws this year!
