Robinson Nuclear Plant receives approval from U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to continue operating until 2050
April 24, 2026Community Leaders,
I’m incredibly excited to share the news that the Robinson Nuclear Plant received approval yesterday from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to continue operating until 2050. This incredible news is exciting for our Pee Dee Region and beyond. The license renewal not only reflects the plant’s strong operational performance and commitment to regulatory excellence but also represents a significant investment in the long-term vitality of our region.
The facility located just outside of Hartsville, SC, remains a cornerstone of our local economy in the Pee Dee Region—supporting high quality jobs, contributing to the tax base, and partnering with community organizations to enhance quality of life. We’re proud of the role this plant will continue to play in powering our communities and strengthening our shared future.
