Cypress Adventures - Spring has Sprung
April 05, 2022Youth Program Updates
We are currently serving 64 adolescent youth through the popular after-school Youth Leadership Program and the NEW, student-created and student-lead Youth Council Program. In addition to learning how to build healthy relationships, strengthen resiliency, and become great leaders, our students have been enjoying an increase in outdoor AND creative adventures!
Thirty students participated in our hiking trips at Crowders Mountain & Poinsett State Parks during the February school break.
These are a few of the youth leaders who are helping Cypress grow! Come meet the Youth Council and learn more about their creative projects at the April 9 Farmers Market!
We are elated to FINALLY be camping again! Just this past weekend we enjoyed our first camping trip since 2019.
Campus Updates
Our Second Saturday Volunteer Work Days have been extremely productive. We remain eternally grateful to the growing community of volunteers who are helping to grow our 5-acre campus into a full-fledged Outdoor Education Center.
We now have water access at the greenhouse!! Andrew King and Steve Avant connected the water lines to our artesian well.
Students in the Youth Council Program have spent three days (& counting) removing bricks and other debris to clear a path for the electricity that will soon convert a storage outbuilding to a workshop just for them!
Greenhouse donor Vandy Vanderstelt continues to lead the way and keep us on task at each Volunteer Work Day.
The next Volunteer Work Day is this Saturday, April 9 from 9:00am - 12:00pm.
