    Members,

As the weather turns warm and we enter the busy golf season, we would like to remind everyone how important it is that we all uphold some basic standards for golf cart traffic. As most of you know, HCC is as busy as any time in recent memory, so the increased traffic by both members and outside players puts a great deal of stress on the turf, especially around tees and greens.

As a general rule, golfers should always:

-Remain on cart paths at all times near tees and greens
-Park with all four tires on the cart path
-Keep carts entirely on the cart paths for the duration of all par threes
-Respect and abide by signs and ropes indicating carts are to remain on paths or go another direction
-Return to cart paths where they begin, not alongside greenside bunkers
-Refrain from driving around the back of greens
-Keep any eye out for heavily compacted areas and avoid them
-Pair up in golf carts whenever possible

It is imperative to abide by these generally accepted practices in order for HCC to maintain the quality turf that our maintenance staff has worked so hard to provide and that we have all come to take such pride in at HCC. One golf cart does not cause noticeable damage to turf, but hundreds of carts travelling over the same restricted area throughout the summer will lead to bad lies for the golfer, poor aesthetics at our beautiful Club, and countless hours dedicated to turfgrass repair.

Members can educate the guests who play with them and set a good example for non-members concerning cart traffic. If guests see members driving their carts near greens and tees, they may assume that they are allowed to as well. For Staff, policing is very difficult, especially on the back nine, so we ask that everyone do their part to respectfully educate and assist others in upholding these standards.

We look forward to our best golf season yet and we hope to see everyone soon!

    Sincerely,
    HCC Staff
