South Carolina’s 2025 Youth of the Year Genesis Majors had the incredible honor of representing not only the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area but the entire state a few weeks ago at the Southeast Regional Youth of the Year Competition in Atlanta.?

Although Genesis did not take home the regional title, the experience was nothing short of life changing.

“Even though it was technically a competition, I have no regrets about the friendships I made. Attending the Southeast Youth of the Year competition gave me the opportunity to explore new experiences and truly enjoy the moment of making it this far.”

Throughout the week, she gained valuable leadership skills, grew her confidence, and expanded her professional network — all while forming lasting friendships with other inspiring Club teens from across the Southeast.?

Her journey included unforgettable moments like making her own pizza during a leadership visit to Papa John's, unlocking teamwork and strategy at an escape room, and walking the halls of the @BGCA_Clubs National Headquarters in Atlanta—a place where big ideas and bold futures begin.?

The week culminated in a stunning Youth of the Year Gala, hosted by notable figures from the sports world, entertainment industry, and BGCA leadership —including actor Shameik Moore, the voice of Spiderman Into the Spiderverse.

?It was incredibly impactful to witness such a powerful show of support—so many influential people coming together to uplift and celebrate the stories and achievements of Club youth. The room was filled with inspiration, hope, and unwavering belief in the next generation of leaders.

Genesis shined alongside her peers, reminding us all of the resilience and brilliance that exists within every young person who walks through our Club doors.

Her story is just one of many.
Every day Boys & Girls Clubs across the Pee Dee Area empower youth to rise above challenges and reach their full potential.
