    Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
At this year’s Annual Conference, I will be taking a medical leave of absence from pastoral ministry. The past four years in Hartsville at St. Luke UMC have been a true blessing. As the years go by, I will look back fondly on our time together; I trust the same will be true for you.

Saying good-bye is never easy, but understanding the Methodist process reminds us, “that when one leaves - another is coming.” If all goes well with the current plans, we have until June 30 together – to say our goodbyes and plan a welcome for your new Pastor.

This time frame will offer multiple opportunities for continued ministry and plans for the new opportunities ahead.

With countless blessings and memories, I am grateful for 32 years of service to our Lord and his people – the church. During the past few years, numerous heart and various health-related issues have surfaced that will require management through extended treatment and therapy. As Fran and I become accustomed to this, we will keep you posted. During this medical leave, we hope to find a clear path to return to the pastoral ministry next year – in some capacity.

I want to thank you for your loving kindness and support over the years. As is the norm, I have much more to share. For now, you will always be on my mind, in my heart, and lifted up in prayer. Thank you for giving to the Lord, I am a life that was changed…

    Grace and peace,
    Pastor Carl
