    Executive Committee

    Consists of the Chair, Chair-Elect, Past Chair, Treasurer and chairs of three committees: Economic Development & Public Policy; Membership Development & Outreach; Communications & Special Events

    Responsibilities: 

    • Ensure smooth finances & operations of the Chamber 
    • Serves as the Nominating Committee
    • Coordinate Strategic Planning  and facilitate Annual retreat
    • Regularly review Bylaws and Policies & Procedures

    Finance Committee

    Consists of the Chair, Treasurer, Executive Director and others as appointed by the Chair to oversee the finances of the operation.

    Responsibilities:                                    

    • Preparing the Annual Budget
    • Serves as a liaison to third-party accounting firm
    • Oversight of annual financial statement presentation
    • Moves Chamber investments and acts to ensure proper cash flow for the organization.
    • Recommends board action on financial matters.
    • Reviews special requests for funds not budgeted.

    Economic Development & Public Policy

    Made up of a Board liaison, and others as appointed by the Chair, and Chamber members in good standing working with the Executive Director and elected officials to create business-friendly environment that will assist retaining existing businesses and help recruit new businesses to Hartsville.

    Responsibilities:

    • Partnering with City of Hartsville, Darlington County, and local businesses  to explore ways to recruit/attract new business and industry to Hartsville
    • Support SC Chamber’s efforts to enhance state’s competitiveness
    • Participate in regional economic development efforts to keep apprised of relevant issues that may impact economic development in the region
    • Promote Shop Local initiatives

    Membership Development & Outreach

    Made up of a Board liaison, and others as appointed by the Chair, and Chamber members in good standing

    Responsibilities:

    • Engage members regularly to increase attendance at events and invite new prospects to become involved
    • Explore new ways the Chamber can help members give back to local community through service projects or charitable events.
    • Assist local schools, charities and civic organizations as appropriate.
    • Review periodically Chamber benefits and pricing structures to ensure mutually beneficial relationships continue

    Communications & Special Events

    Made up of a Board liaison, and others as appointed by the Chair, and Chamber members in good standing

    Responsibilities: 

    • Work directly with all Special Events sponsored or  co-sponsored by the Chamber
    • Support efforts to promote Chamber members, activities and programs through various communication channels, such as website, social media, relocation guide/membership directory, weekly e-news and other tools deemed appropriate
    • Promote Chamber and community as part of Chamber’s role as communications hub  for Hartsville
