  • Utility Worker

    The Utility Worker is someone who cleans interiors and exteriors of fleet vehicles and maintains the premises of the office building in a clean and orderly condition. The job requires groundskeeping, deep cleaning all fleet vehicles, transporting all trash from the maintenance shop to the disposal area, and other job duties as assigned. Hours will vary but will normally consist of work shifts Monday-Friday between the hours of 5:30AM and 7:00PM. The shift may be in the AM, PM, or a combination of both. Some weekend work is also possible. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must receive a negative result from a DOT pre-employment drug screen, pass a DOT pre-employment physical and criminal background check. SC Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Passenger Endorsement required. In-house CDL training and testing available. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) - One to three months related experience - Corresponding years of experience may be considered as a substitute for the level of education desired. Must receive a negative result from a DOT pre-employment drug screen. - Occasional travel to other PDRTA offices, local/overnight out-of-town travel is required. - Must be flexible with regard to covering varied work hours/shifts. Starting Salary will be commensurate with years of experience and/or advanced educational degree. The work environment characteristics include exposure to outside weather conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, and the risk of shock or vibration. Typically, the noise level is loud.
